However, Seniority is great for Republics since age is a positive factor for being elected Doge. In normal games, I'm not a big fan of Seniority. And since your heir is often from a different branch of the family, outside alliances often are not preserved when your current character dies. (Though it may be easier to change Crown Laws since you go to the next ruler more quickly). ![]() ![]() It is also harder to change Succession laws since you need to reign for 10 years. This can result in lots of Short Reign penalties (and constant loss of "Sent Gift" and "Crushed Revolt" bonuses) causing lots of civil unrest. ![]() Seniority's main disadvantages are lots of quick turnover times, when all of the next several heirs are all old. ![]()
